… Che cosa aspetta, appoggiato alla mano, il giovane con la bicicletta? O quello che forse sogna, dell’«interno con figura»? O quello che guarda «le caldarroste»? O quello che tiene «la mimosa»? O il bambino e il vecchio della «sosta»? Tutti con profonda tristezza e pericolante speranza, dietro le lunghe ciglia abbassate, aspettano qualcosa d’altro, qualcosa che non sta nella vicenda quotidiana.
È una attesa messianica, affidata ai semplici, presente nelle cose, negli atteggiamenti, nei volti.

contemple les « châtaignes grillées » ? Ou celui qui tient le « mimosa » ? Ou l’enfant et le vieil homme de la « pause » ? Tous, avec une profonde tristesse et un espoir périlleux, derrière de longs cils baissés, attendent autre chose, quelque chose qui n’appartient pas au quotidien. C’est une attente messianique, confiée aux simples, présents
dans les choses, dans les attitudes, dans les visages.
